The title of this blog is my homage to a writer and a journalist, a man considered by many to be the conscience of his generation, Eric Blair aka George Orwell - his crystal clear prose, his felicity of language, his incisive grasp of contemporary issues. It strives as language as a clear pane of glass and this blog is an attempt, perhaps deeply inadequate, in that direction.

'Running' 64
We have just completed 63 years of independence, or as Indians like to call it, we are 'running' 64. Can we at least stop firing on unarmed civilians, no matter how misguided they might be?
sacredfig: I meant misguided in the sense that it does not help either their cause or themselves to provoke security forces during curfew, that too repeatedly, when you know what the outcome will be. Some of them might also be (mis)guided by separatist leaders who stay safely indoors but induce these youngsters to become easy cannon fodder.
Indeed! ...and especially when the unarmed civilians are not misguided at all, although that's a separate issue.

ReplyDeleteIt took the British PM 38 years to apologise for the injustice committed on Bloody Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how long it would take the Indian PM, and how many apologies he/she would owe.
